The key to answering the general public’s pent-up demand to be anywhere but home following two years of closures, masking, and social distancing, is to offer a memorable and remarkable experience.
Recognizing the impact on tourism and the unwavering fear of missing out that many have felt, Katalinas Communications, with long-time nonprofit client Bucks County Wine Trail, envisioned a crave-worthy combination of wines and small bites aimed at bringing throngs of out-of-state visitors to Bucks County.
Funding help
Moving an event from concept to reality takes planning, organization, and above all else, funding. As a nonprofit organization comprised of seven family owned wineries in the greater Philadelphia area, the Bucks County Wine Trail members did not possess the assets to create and effectively market a large-scale event. Katalinas Communications led the Bucks County Wine Trail in formalizing the event details, developing a budget and determining some avenues to promote the new offering. The public relations and marketing agency then applied for a tourism grant to assist in covering some of the pre-event expenses, such as publicity and advertising.
Visit Bucks County awarded the Bucks County Wine Trail with a $15,000 grant.
The name game
With funding to make the event happen, we next focused on naming this gourmet wine and small bites pairing, selecting menus and wine pairing combinations, choosing ticket prices and determining how best to sell tickets.
A love of alliteration guided us in naming the Sunday wine and food pairing events in August Summer Sip & Savor. The wineries took great care in choosing the small plates that would be paired with their locally made wines. Recognizing the experiential component of the event, we priced tickets accordingly. Afterall, events like this are highly anticipated as tourism rebounds and as the general public eagerly snaps up tickets for events that had to be missed since the pandemic.
Marketing Summer Sip & Savor
With event details finalized, Katalinas Communications is now helping Bucks County Wine Trail promote its wine and food pairing events through a variety of strategic digital communications efforts, including blogging, social media and email marketing, public relations, as well as a variety of paid promotions.
